Looks like I last tried this about six years ago. It’s aging well, albeit slowly. This is so good, and a great vintage even by Allemand standards. That said, it’s got a long life ahead of it and I’d expect greater complexity with age.

Allemand Chaillot survey (Chicago, IL): I don't think it was any surprise to anyone that this was going to be one of the wines of the night, even before we got around to tasting it. And of course, a superlative wine it is. It's a little structural and not as giving as the 2009 (which I preferred for the sheer enjoyment of drinking right now), but in my mind it's inordinately obvious that this is a legendary wine in the making, along the lines of the 2010 Chave and Jamet. So in some sense, this wine merely met expectations. It's a mix of red and black fruit, and interestingly slightly more feral than what I typically associate with Allemand. Sturdy structure that feels like it's got a good decade before it softens, and only modest saline/meat/olive/smoke notes right now. A wine of potential right now, but it's so exciting to experience it.

Magnificent tonight w/ Nita's Memphis rubbed pork ribs! Paired alongside my buddy Mikes very tasty '07 Clos Du Pape! The Allemand has it all going. Semi translucent ruby w/ deep center but not opaque. Exceptional balance, intensity, fruit purity and concentration are the canvas for its fabulous spicey dark fruit aromas along w/ enticing favors of dark berries, cured meat, mineral and lovely harmonics just out of reach from my sensory. Incredible wine by any standard. 13.5% alc. Slow-oxed in Burg glasses & btl for 4-1/2hrs. Maybe even a smidge better the next day. With one left I'll wait at least till 2025+ Think there maybe some upside to waiting but outstanding now too.
Garnet color with a brown rim. Nose of cracked pepper and rose petals. Mouth of balanced tanins and red fruit. Long finish that lingers with cherry oak.

This was singing and an excellent example of Cornas at nearly its best. Big dark almost tarry with perfumed aromatics showing lots of dark fruits. Power and precision.

(Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot) Opaque red violet color; very appealing, pepper, roasted fruit, green peppercorn, white pepper nose; delicious, roasted black fruit, pepper, green peppercorn palate with medium acidity and super suave, firm tannins; could use 5-6 years; long finish
