  • Drinking great, floral notes, also some olive, citrusy, nice finish.

  • These are always great. The last of this vintage. If you have the patience, aging Tavel is a rewarding experience, especially at this quality level.

I agree with the previous note of Forceberry. I got a bit more citrus than he/she seemed to note. Also, the alcohol heat is a little bit distracting from the complex fruit/mineral/floral/waxy complexity of the wine. I think this producer makes the most serious rosé anywhere.

  • 14,5% alcohol.

Luminous, somewhat developed translucent color with an orange hue of Aperol. Very rich and somewhat developed nose with bold aromas of sweet golden apples, strawberries, some aged waxy character, a little bit of rose hip soup, light raspberry leaf tones and a hint of blackberry jam. The wine is juicy, full-bodied and quite weighty on the palate with ripe flavors of sweet golden apples, some stony mineral tones, a little bit of alcohol warmth, light citrus fruit tones, a hint of white peach and a touch of melon. The medium-plus acidity lends some good balance to the wine, but doesn't feel high enough to lend real freshness and sense of structure to the wine. The finish is long, juicy and quite powerful with flavors of cooked rose hips, some bruised apple, a little bit of wild strawberry, light raspberry marmalade tones, a hint of sweet red cherry and a touch of darker fruits. The high alcohol shows a bit.

A wonderful, rich and complex rosé with some age. Often rosés are said to be consumed within the first year or two, but this wine is still going very strong at the age of almost 8 years and although showing some developed tones, is still far from being old and fully tertiary. The overall style here is very ripe and weighty with quite modest alcohol, so perhaps this wine is better on its own rather than a food wine. A complex and rewarding effort that is drinking well right now, but might even continue to develop further in a cellar. True to the Tavel style, this is an impressive powerhouse of a rosé.

  • Too much alcohol for a rose

  • Dark pink-red color. Aromas of bay, thyme, cherry, and peach. Palate has watermelon, thyme, bay, and some heat on a medium finish. Consistent with past bottles and holding in there, despite the extra time in the bottle.
