Bit disappointing. Very oaky, drying (wood tannins), lacking body or complexity, noticeable alcohol and low acidity. I normally like this wine but this is a surprisingly lightweight and harsh rendition. It does settle with 15-20mins of air when lemon curd and stone fruit comes out and there is much more mid-palate and length. But even then it lacks much complexity and there’s a noticeable harshness. I much prefer the 2012 for a mature rendition, or 2017 for more youthfulness. 89pts

17 months in oak, it definitely shows plenty of toasty vanilla oak on the nose along with peach, lemon curd and mineral. It has a rich entry with creamy mouthfeel and soften palate. Drinking nicely now with lingering finish.

A little harsh on opening but with some air and warmth this improves a lot, to a rounded buttery chard.
