Nose of a bouquet of juicy red ripe fruits. Orange peel, meat juices. Definitely a blend with merlot characteristics. Oak is nicely integrated. On the palette, the same flavours but still slightly tannic. Finish doesn’t last too long. Love the nose, palette is alright. Not superb but not bad at all. Still easily has a few years left. Will let it decant for an hour or so to see if the palette integrates better.
UPDATED: After a 2.5 hour decant, wine mellowed out and became much more integrated and improved. Still not outstanding but a solid red.

The 2009 Jayson red wine is a proprietary blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Malbec. I opened and decanted the Jayson about an hour before dinner, which allowed it plenty of time to open and evolve. A very pretty color shading from purple to ruby. Huge bouquet. Blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, vanilla, and nutmeg. On the palate, it was smooth and silky with soft tannins. Perfectly balanced. Most wineries would be proud to have this as their reserve, let alone their second wine.

Purple colored, big candied fruit nose and taste. Very good quality fruit which makes this bomb great.
