Very slight cloudy, dark purple. Not much nose, just hints of very mature Sangiovese: fruit way in the background, woody and tertiary notes to the fore. On the palate, not much fruit, not much tannin, not even much of the famous Rufina acidity. I hesitate to score this at all. At the right age it is certainly a 90+ wine, but this is really interesting as a study in ageing, rather than a great pleasure. Cork, 13.5%.

Vibrant and mature red berry fruit aromas. Medium plus garnet with some orange to the rim. Cherry vitamin aromas. On the palate, at pop and pour, med/+ tannin (I was not expecting so much tannin). A slightly rustic appeal. Red berry, cherry, grassy. Lots of life ahead of this. Drink to 2032. This continues to be an OMG wine across vintage. Best over the first couple of hours.

Dark purple with some moderate browning around the edge. Nose of earth, blueberries, other berry. Pallet still tannic, but showing more flavor than the last bottle. Can't quite pick the fruits, but they are there.

Aromas of raspberry, earth, roasted red peppers, and spice. Nice dark flavors, some tar, with a slightly chalky aftertaste.

Very dry. No fruit at all. Austere. Past? Closed?
