From an unusually good looking bottle, this wine appeared to be a late release from the 60s. The bottle required 10 rinses to clear out the heavy sediment. The wine had a surprisingly deep red center with orange rims. The medium+ intensity nose showed black currants, clove, plum, tan spices, and soil.
In the mouth, this wine showed powerful tannin at first. After 4+ hours of air it showed rich fruit, moderate+ tannin, crisp acidity, and good length. Unfortunately, it had an awkward quality that brought down this wine's score for me.
It would be easy to guess this wine as a 1966. It will be going strong For many years but I have a hard time imagining it getting better.

- Brick color with medium forming legs. It's lacking fruit with a light/medium body. Narrow texture with a medium finish - Not much there but just so damn interesting. Amazing to think what this wine has survived through. History in a bottle.

Chateau Latour Vertical (Bentley Hotel, London): Completely maderized. Coffee, marmite and caramel. Not unpleasant.
