The cork was fully soaked but still intact. Upon opening, the wine was able to be decanted without any issues and revealed a deep red color with subtle brown hues around the edges. Initially, there was a strong brett aroma present, but this dissipated with some air and allowed for the black and red fruit flavors to shine through. This wine is very charming and drank really well.

Wine Workshop: Chateau Palmer (Benoit): A vintage that probably doesn't get enough credit since it always seems like I like the wines that I have from it. Lovely and softer style of wine. Not as vibrant as the 66, but it did open up more with time in the glass. Drinking well.

Mid to high shoulder fill, cork soaked but intact. Decanted for about 90 min. Expected a wine barely holding on, but despite the fact that this wine clearly peaked a while ago, it is still a joy to taste. This is the kind of wine to show to wine drinkers talking about the "power of the Bordeaux wines"....With 12 % alc. a fairly slender skeleton, this wine is packed with beautiful earthy and spicy aromas. Obviously, all of the tannins are resolved and little hint of fruit remains, but the richness and persistence of the aromatics made it a treat. Definitely a time to drink this wine. You are almost never disappointed with an older vintage of Chateau Palmer...

Not a fair showing as the "Somm." Killed the bottle right of the bat!
It had really matured notes already and then splash-decanted gave it the seal of death!
It had some earthy notes, spices and very very very developed fruits and meat notes.
After just 5 minutes it developed very very heavy notes of ox blood! Such a shame, if it was left in the bottle the showing would/could/should have been great!
Have to find it on my own to secure a better care of the wine! Shame!

Very funky to start but blew off after half an hour. Incredibly the fruit returned.
