It is always a bit special to taste a 66 year old wine. Medium deep colour with a distinct brick rim. A lot of tobacco and leather on the nose. Not much fruit left but there was a hint of black currant. Good acidity and soft tannins. It is well past its peak but still nice to drink.

....and the second bottle had a more robust style, more tannins (but no hard edges) and a better finish. As the previous bottle the colour was lively and deep after 60 years. The bouquet changed from winy and little red fruit to gentle ripe notes.

At Harry's 60th birthday, the first bottle was as my previous note, but slightly holding better at the end. Altogether this was a very nice bottle (level high shoulder, good cork).

Level into the neck and from the full case bought last year at a sale; the wine gained some (lively) colour in the glass and developed some body with aeration, but not to the level I wished. Not too old in bouquet and in the taste, but just missing the freshness I hoped to find. First bottle, so I don't complain and wait for the second bottle to taste.
