I can see how this might be on the decline but it's still very good. The nose was expressive of dark fruit as soon as it was opened. The palate was bacon fat, moist soil, blackberry, and raspberry. Didn't decant and the first glass was probably my favorite - it didn't improve with time.

I was concerned this would be over the hill, but still going strong. Aroma of blueberries and earthiness. Primary fruit has tamed, now showing more spice notes, black currant, and savory finish. Acidity is still present and a silky smooth mouthfeel we love in well-aged Syrah. Our last bottle, but we loved it. Should still be good for another couple of years.

I don't know what people are talking about when they suggest this wine is over the hill. Yes, it has matured past the fruity, oaky explosion that was its younger self, but it has toned into a well balanced, rich expression of syrah that is nicely structured by some firm tannin and good acidity. This still has some room to improve over the next few years... if you're looking for something other than a fruit/oak bomb.

Though still enjoyable, we feel this is fading. Some key elements have slipped away and are a bit disorganized. This one may have slipped through the cracks.

The wine is starting to fade a little. Still some good elements of Cherry and spice flavors, but not as vital as previous bottles.
