  • Vary dark, only slightly translucent cherry red color. Aromas of cherry marmalade, overripe plums, dried figs, milk chocolate oak and some alcohol. Concentrated and full-bodied on the palate with rather low acidity and a hint of possibly residual sugar sweetness. Intense and somewhat heavy flavors of licorice, sweet pruney plums, oak spice, dried figs, some leather and a hint of plum liqueur. Moderate tannins. Long, sweet and somewhat warm finish with concentrated, somewhat dark-toned and long-lingering flavors of dried figs, cherry marmalade, some chocolate, a little prune and a developed hint of leather.

A concentrated and heavy-set Amarone that feels big, true to the style, but not overdone or excessively modern, with some nice hints of more developed character. This wine could be a good Amarone, were it not for a bit too mellow tannins and rather low acidity, which give the wine a rather ponderous and sluggish feel. With better structure this could have been quite impressive, but now it really doesn't manage to impress me much.

  • Doftar mörkt kirschigt, russin, mycket ek - mörk choklad, tallbarr och vanilj. Alkoholstick.

Obalanserad.

  • WSET Level 2 Class 5 (BCIT Downtown Campus, Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind. Clear, deep garnet. Nose is clean, with pronouced aromas of coffee, chocoloate, fruitcake, prune, dried cherry, and vanilla. Palate is mostly dry with a hint of sweetness, medium- acid, medium tannin, full body, with flavours of raisin, coffee, chocoloate / cocoa, spice. Finish is medium+. Quality is clearly good to very good, but I'm still not convinced Amarone is my style.
