Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 84 points

  • Although the aroma was inviting, I would not say this wine was a bang for my buck. Lacked persistence and character. I'd have to agree with many of the other comments in that it doesn't have much body and it tastes as though it is on the watered down side. Drinkable, sure.

  • Not a bad wine. I don't drink much Zin, but pretty good red fruit, easy to drink.

  • A serviceable, almost adequate, but by no means inspiring Zinfandel. Tastes pretty watered down, and a little grainy. We have tasted most of the past 10 vintages of this wine, and have never been blown away, but rarely as disappointed. It probably is in it's "dumb stage" and could use some bottle rest, but other 2010 zins are showing just fine now. They got the color right, very dark. The blackberry jam and alcohol nose is pretty much on point. As it crosses the lips, there is a chewy, gritty thing that tastes like over pressing. At the roof of the palate is a blackberry pie, boysenberry flavor that rocks, but gets over ruled by some off flavor bitterness, general weakness, and those pesky tannins. Little influence from oak. Gets much better as you swirl like crazy. 84 is being generous, there just is not enough stuffing to swirl this to a higher score. I'l try another bottle in a couple of months.

  • drinkable but not recommended. Not much body, even a bit watery. there is a sweet candy like punch up front, and some hint of dark fruit in the middle but that dissipates quickly, the good flavors have very short finishes but there are some harsh notes that linger.

  • (13.5%) This is soft, smooth and fruit forward but also unfortunately cloying sweet. This remains that same before a short cinnamon heated finish. While $15 on the winery site (I paid $8) I’m still glass half empty here tonight. This tastes like supermarket wine. In this case you get exactly what you paid for (and can only wish you can get your money back). Steer clear and look for the Bogle Old Vine Zin if you need something that delivers on this price point…
