Maremma IGT: Medium+ garnet with a bright ruby core and a narrow clear rim. Medium+ chocolate, charred wood, dried mint, sage, anisee and lesser dark plum. Developing. Dry, Medium+ acidity, medium+ body, medium+ fine furry tannin, high alcohol. Medium+ latte and toffee, chocolate and dark sour plum. A medium+ toffee and chocolate finish with a hint of dried tobacco. Good balance between the plum and acidity, good length, good intensity, very good complexity. Outstanding. Can drink now, but can be aged for 3 more years. For the complexity, unique minty and herbateous expression in Syrah and the vibrant expression and good texuture, it is faire to be 89+. With more years, when the oak flavors got more integrated, it can be even better.

100% syrah and labelled as "shiraz". Very dark purple. Intense new oak of good quality, sweet spice, violets and blueberry jam. Full-bodied, dense with big fruit, obvious sweet oak, balancing acidity and a long aftertaste. Clearly more on the shiraz than the syrah style, without a clear resemblance to aussie shiraz.

Still quite oaky. Needs some air.
