Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): Savoury with a nice briny quality on the nose and palate, but it feels like there's a bit of prickliness from oak on the palate. Still, plenty of red fruit on the palate and nose that really brings this wine to life.

I thought I had drank all my bottles, but low and behold I found 2 in my cellar that were not on my CT inventory! I brought this to a Syrah night with my wine group at a NYC Steakhouse. It was opened, but not decanted for 45 minutes before pouring. Full bodied with a long finish, it was the hit of the night. Lots of spice to go with some fruit and some tannic structure.
Fairly average, gave it plenty of air time too. Dark colour, bit brick-red/maroon around the rim. Aromas are a bit one dimensional with a strong feeling of ripeness, ie. Stewed fruits, chocolate, oak spice, very boozy. Feels hot on the palate too. Seems developed, but nowhere near past it. Feels as good as it’s going to get. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh but that comes with the price tag. Would be dissapointed if I had paid full price for it.

Well, it was more than a year. Lovely evolution. Rhone weight but good balance. 13.5%
