  • Pnp. Home run. Finally. Great from the first sip. Complex balanced, long finish. Some fruit and developing secondary flavors. Great wine. Loved it.

  • Fantastic Oakville Cabernet!

We brought this to an Italian restaurant and was worried that a big bold Napa cab would not work with any pasta dishes. However, I paired this with a spicy bolognese dish and it worked really well.

This pours a very dark red and has medium legs. The nose is so seductive with lots of dark stewed fruits, blueberry pie, and a touch of oak. No tertiary notes. The palate is full bodied, rich, extracted, and so so delicious. This just explodes with fruit in your mouth. Not over the top or overdone but a really nice concentrated fruit expression.

Have 1 more bottle left of this and really looking forward to opening it soon. Probably at its peak drinking window now. Cheers!

  • This is a great example of an extremely well made and balanced Oakville cabernet. At 10 years old, the nose predominates with black berries, cassis, and hints of mocha. Not showing any tertiary characteristics yet. Where this wine really shines is the palate and its mouth feel. It is full bodied, rich, opulent, yet really balanced. It has almost a velvety texture, your palate is immersed with layers of dark fruits. The tannins are still big and still have so much life in them, this would easily benefit from another 3-5 years in the cellar. It is so smooth and barely can taste any of the 14.9% alcohol. The finish is long and lingering.

I was very surprised with how well this wine is made. It was my first Gargiulo wine and I completely sold. Looking at the history of the 575 OVX vineyard, it sits next to Screaming Eagle in Oakville. So in essence, you get similar terroir to the cult cabs at a fraction of the price.

Overall impression - great great great Oakville cabernet. It still feels and tastes so young, it still would benefit from time in the cellar where it will continue to improve and evolve. Really excited to have tried this wine and have 2 more bottles left, they will be amazing. Cheers!

  • Really drinking beautifully. Slight tannic presence, plenty of oak. Excellent with a ribeye
