Hmm, I really liked this one last time I tried it, but not so much this time. Guess it didn't age well? Oddly, my last tasting note I said it didn't have the usual bell pepper elements typical of a Cab Franc, but this bottle clearly does. Can't quite pin why it doesn't sit all that well with me.

This one is quite special. A lot more complex than the typical cab franc. I don't get the strong bell pepper I'm familiar with in other, lighter bodied ones. This one is full bodied, quite fruity (blueberry dominates), with chewy tannins. Still some vegetal characteristics, but rather subdued compared to everything else going on. Interesting minerality on the finish. Nose is beautifully floral but not overwhelmingly so.

Very dark crimson. Chocolate covered cherries, earth, and spice nose. Medium bodied, cranberries, herbs, blueberries, gritty tannins, good acid, tobacco, leather, smoke, and a long dry finish. It has really moved from fruit to tertiary flavors over the last year or so.

This can be a very enjoyable wine, however there is significant bottle variation. I purchased 2 cases in 2013 and having consumed 11 bottles so far, each has had its own personality. AG gives a 2016 drink by date, I couldn't agree more.

It needed a few hours of decanting for the vegetal overtones to go away.
