Mature Rioja online tasting (Online): Still a young bugger. Immature and angular. The fruit sprawls, the acids go dither, the tannins say heidy-hoe. No order in this turret.
This bottle did not live up to its reputation and my expectations.
Needs to reat much longer.

January 2020 33 years old, it drinks like if you blend Figeac with old Valbuena ... . need to be decanted for 30 mins .. and you will find pure pleasure, very refined, not as heavy as the 89/94, perfect to drink now, no need to keep, but will hold if well store another 5-10 years / had a second bottle in March 2020, same impression. Drink 2020-2028

Will T’s (30th) 87s (Noizé, London): Double decanted 4hrs previously. Fragrant nose. Very attractive. Red fruit, floral, vanilla spice with some coconut. A little flighty as well as flirty. Just a bit too sweet and obvious with air. A touch of cola too. Nice though. ****

Rioja Night (Chicago, IL): Much lighter, more cranberry red fruit and tartness than either the 890 or Ardanza served next to this. Pretty. Mature, forward wine.

Rioja dinner at Phil's (Chicago, IL): Of the three 1987 LRAs, I liked this one second (as it should be), although I thought this had much more kinship with the Ardanza than the 890. Very red in complexion, with some cranberry elements here. The acidity is really bracing, but this is still a lovely, if a bit four-square bottle of Rioja. The oak isn't too prominent here, though it does show in a little bit of brown spice if you look for it.
