Crimson-black, opaque; black cherries, blackberries, black currants, bell peppers, tobacco; ripe cherry, plummy, cocoa, silky, medium body, decent acidity, fine tannins, lingering finish Decanted 2 hrs. Initial dustiness distracted from the dark berry fruit and sweet tobacco secondary notes. Balanced alcohol with lingering finish. Aging nicely so far.

Really reaching its peak now, with nice balance of fruit, acidity, vague dusty drying tannins. Still a touch of herbalness/green to the mid palate to finish but not overpowering. A sort of rich fullness without thickness. Good red berries, cassis, ….. ripe but not OTT.

this one seems to date back to when we all thought green pepper must be in the Franc narrative to be good Franc; I am glad those days are mostly gone, but this one is still drinkable to those who feel that way, as green pepper and spice ruled the roost while smoky dried blackberry and black raspberry also take up residence - pretty interesting stuff. This one gets a pass but drink 'em soon.

it's one of those special single vineyard wines that have become de rigueur, but back in 2010 seeing a single vineyard moniker on a bottle of Ontario wine was not prevalent: the nose is not one you'd think of as truly inviting with its dusty, smoky, pencil shavings, and cassis, but the palate seems to deliver more of what you're looking for in a seven year old bottle of Franc: oak and smoky, with spicy, dried dark fruit, and a dusty cocoa finish.

Dark red and a touch purple. Dark berries, vegetal/herbal tones. Medium to full bodied. Drinking nicely now.
