Quite good. My wife said it may be the best WS she’s had to date. I was equally impressed given its age. Minimal bricking and the fruit was still pretty lively.

Raspberry and boysenberry fruit, maybe a little pomegranate. Still more ruby color than brick. Transitions to earthiness and a long finish. This echoes the style I fell in love with 35 years ago with W-S.
Seems that a bit more of an earthy rustic nature has come out over the last years (our last bottle) and I do still love it - just a bit differently. Still great fruit and longgg satisfying finish. We love well aged WS pinot noir.

At Boon Fly. One-off auction purchase about 16 months ago at about $73. I've enjoyed several vintages of this bottling, most notably a mag of the '92--I wouldn't have bought such an old CA pinot but it was part of a large private party purchase, and it was amazing--as well as others from WS. While I like several styles of pinot, WS negotiates a middle ground between KB and Rhys particularly well. PnP. Relatively muted nose with notes of red fruit and roses. On the palate, notes of raspberries, cherries, subdued baking spices, earth and a pleasing blood orange note on the back end. Dark-colored for a pinot, medium to full-bodied, thick legs. Light to moderate tannins, moderate acidity, no heat, good persistence. Paired well with seared salmon and a burger. Drank 2 glasses over the course of 90 minutes and am slowly drinking a glass on the second night with consistent notes for all glasses. Well-balanced and medium complex, this wine remains in its drinking window but is perhaps just a bit less vibrant and bright than other WS pinots that I've had; I'm not sure if this is an accurate perception or a bit of confirmation bias as I usually drink CA pinots in their first 5-7 years. Not a must drink now, but IMO, drink sooner than later. 91-92

Amazing wine from a so-so vintage. Popped and let sit for 2 hrs. Really well balanced.
