From my posting on Instagram: In Vino Veritas (in wine there is truth; people speak the truth when they are drunk), bottle #87 of my cellar sacrifices. A 2001 Facets from Gemstone. It was an initial release of their red Bordeaux blend (cab, merlot, cab Franc and Petite Verdot). I was doing some Cellar culling and figured it was about time to get rid of this one too. I think I bought four upon their initial offering, and had to pour the last two bottles down the drain. My personal opinion is they forgot to use sulfites on many of the Corks, because that’s what happened to my own wine when I tried to make it eons ago. Before I opened this bottle, I was only expecting about a 10% chance of it being any good, but much to my surprise, it was fantastic! It must’ve been from another batch because it aged perfectly. What a treat!! 😀🍷🍷👍👍 #wine #winelover #winelovers #gemstone #gemstonewinery #gemstonewines

Drank with ribeye steak bites on NYE. Clearly left some of this on the table (or shelf I guess) as it was a little soft and thin, but everything was absolutely intact and delicious.

I hadn't tried this wine in a while and it was simply amazing, far better than I remembered. Incredible depth of fruit, and complexity with a finish that goes on forever.

Still drinking nicely. Would think it has another year or two left.
