  • Well someone should be ashamed of what they have made here. Over sulfured. Palate is starting to recover at least.

  • Just a couple of weeks ago I thought this was “gooseberry and white grapefruit. The length, however, is shorter than preferred. More chalk than mineral and no flint to speak of. Not a bad wine for $17 .... but also far from compelling.” This bottle was even less so. The SB feels more flabby than the first. 13.9% alc. With spiced shrimp. Recommended with reservations.

  • When Sashi Moorman took over as winemaker for Stolpman, one of the first things to be “re-arranged” was the Sauvignon Blanc. It was planted at the wrong angle. Sashi thought it needed to be changed by about 90 degrees (give or take 30 degrees). A few years have passed since I last tasted (and enjoyed) the SB from here, so when I saw some locally, I had to pick it up. The attack is full with gooseberry and white grapefruit. The length, however, is shorter than preferred. More chalk than mineral and no flint to speak of. Not a bad wine for $17 .... but also far from compelling. 13.9% alc. With assorted carrot-ginger soup and cheeses including crottin du chavignol, ossu iratti and others. Recommended.

  • Clear; nearly while in color. Very bright and light with high acidity. Stone fruit on the nose. Still seems like a hot, young wine. Will be interesting to see how this one ages (if it lasts that long!).

  • Lemon custard and bright acidity. Despite the youth, feel the vibrancy will continue with this rendition. Acidity cuts through dishes and worked well with spicy foods. Citrus finish is short, but really nice with a Piedmont-style dinner. Brightness is over the top a bit, but it is so lively and different I have to mark it up a bit.
