  • Nose: Blackberry, red cherry, autumn leaves, tobacco and graphite. Slightly brown fruited note at the edges, but a nice mature nose. Palate: Seamless and weighty with Bark, Dark Cherry, Cassis, graphite, leather and grilled herb. Not the most complex, but classic and nice. Finish: Ripe dark berry,. blackberry and some aged leather.

A nice Pauillac with a mid-week Coq au Vin. Pricing has gotten aggressive for quality, but a bargain at the 10-yrs ago auction pricing I bought this case at. Last of the case.

  • Big positive surprise.
At its peak, will hold a least an other 5 years.
Robe: no signs of fading, only little signs of ageing
Nose: typical left bank, red fruits a little gravel, tertiaries not too present, beautiful smell
Palate: medium bodied, good length, very well balanced.
I drank a 1996 Mouton ( good condition) last week and think that d’armailhac would have beaten it.

  • Tasted from 1.5L. Had Covid a month ago and lost my taste and it finally came back in full force a couple of days ago. I thought I would have a wine in my collection that was “fully mature” to really enjoy it at its best. Nothing extremely extravagant, but a very good, solid, fully mature Pauillac. Decanted a little longer than a previous bottle. A total of 4 hours. Really very lovely wine with a wonderful nose and a long finish. This particular bottle could have gone on another 5+ years, most likely because it was a 1.5. Still a good amount of fruit and tannins that have softened somewhat. Enjoyed with a home cooked fillet mignon! I am glad I have another magnum left! What a lovely treat after a month of no taste!

  • Original wooden box purchased from London and stored in Hong Kong home wine fridge over 10 years. Japanese Teppanyaki seafood and Wagyu. We opened 2 bottles. First bottle ... Capsule and cork intact and shoulder was good. Decanted for 30 mins. Colour was crimson, clear and with good legs in the glasses. Nose was good but not exceptional. Tannin was well integrated , silky and classic Bordeaux. After taste was a bit short. Lots of deposit in the bottle so careful decanting is necessary. I thought it had reached the peak .. mature to drink now and don't bother to keep any longer . The second bottle was similar and this wine went well with the Japanese Teppanyaki seafood and Wagyu beef. Glad that we purchased them around 50 lbs per bottle.

  • Tasted from a magnum. Cork and fill level was excellent. Lovely brownish-red brick colour. Decanted for 3 hours. An all-round fabulous, fully mature classic Pauillac. Although most likely starting to fade, this wine had a lot to offer. Nothing Extraordinry, but a real treat drinking a fully mature 26 year old left-bank Bordeaux. Excellent QPR at $175 for a magnum. I am not sure if a 750 of this wine would be the same experience, but this was a real treat!
