Did not care for this when first tasted; too bitter and vegetable. Aging has done well for this wine. BlackBerry core on the palate with smoky and white pepper finish. Drink now.

Opened and let slow-ox for about 2 hours before drinking. Initial aroma is dark cherry and plum, with some black pepper. The taste is pretty consistent in terms of the fruit - it is rather light on the palate. Finish has some smokiness to it, which was nice.

Through the vinturi into the glass, left 45 minutes. In the glass: Deep garnet, long slow legs. On the nose: Initially tart cherry yogurt, vanilla, whiff of wet leaves. That blew off after some time to leave tart cherry, hot spice, whiff of cedar and wet pavement. In the mouth: Medium mouth feel, good concentration of tart cherry, some light spicy tannins in the middle, some tartness and hot spice on the decent finish. Its getting better with air. Decanting is a must! Still have an 08 & 09, so we'll get to see how this one has aged.

Nice cool climate example. This is not in circulation, usually just sold at winery. Typical pepper note is there. Tannins, fruit is a restrained style, great balance. Likely a good food wine. Not like CA Syrah in obviousness, but big in a subtle way. Nice finish.
