  • Been holding onto a single bottle for years. My parents came up to NYC this weekend to help out with the kids while we cleaned flood damage, and Clemens Busch is one of my dad's favorite winemakers... so here we go. From a glass that has been sitting out for hours: This is lovely - it's packed with flavor and extract and everything but it's got great acid and that gives the wine a wonderful airiness and lift. Tons of juicy and zingy fruits - with passion fruit, tangerine, red and green apple, white and yellow nectarine, honey, white grapes, honeysuckle, slate, deep spices. Palate is explosive - so sweet yet so light, tons of juicy fruit, great acid, honeysuckle, minerals. Finish tightens up for a bit and then explodes with the fruit and florals and honey. This reminds me of the best Fritz Haag wines and maybe somewhat of Willi Schaefer. Spectacular. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5-5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5-18/20.

  • Whoa, this is a large wine. It's delicious and certainly has good balancing acidity, and probably should sleep a lot longer than I allowed it to. lush and auslese-like in the feeling of sweetness.
