floral and strawberry nose; red currant, watermelon, and some citrus; slate and a bit of black tea on the finish; enough acidity to keep it bright; real stuffing for a rose; great with the homemade red snapper ceviche.

Was served this wine in San Francisco at a very upper end steak house. It was served in a flight of 4 (3 white and this rose) and was definitely the pick of the litter. The sommelier invited us to taste this rose against the steak tartare appetizer and to my complete astonishment it was a match. I would never have thought to try a rose with beef of any kind. Live and learn and this was a learning experience. I bought my self some of this for home consumption and will follow it against some other ideas of my own.

Served on warm late summer day with buffet of cold salads and it was the perfect foil. With the spicy Asian noodle dish the acids cut straight through and complemented both the wine and noodles. It was also well matched against the corn salad and cucumbers with onions. In short, just the occasion for this CA Rose. I usually go for Spanish pinks or sometimes Provence but I'll change my habits for this one. I'm rating this wine a 92 on its own merits...I won't compare it to a 1997 Cali Cab that I paid $100 and have stored for more than a decade. In the right situation, it's just a better match for the food and circumstance.

watermelon color and taste; nice hints of mineral and citrus; great balance; could easily become the house rose for this summer.
