Out of magnum. This was a pretty wine with great nose. Not sure I would have guessed Bonnes Mares on the palate. Veered more into the Volnay category for me but well made and better than many 04s I've had. From the comments I was prepared to be disappointed...maybe that helped.

Jordan Intro-Retro (Zoom / Chicago): Double blind. Nose has meaty dried black cherry with an attractive green pepper note and spice. Fruit is still quite silky with a candied cherry flavor. All in all though a bit simple and clipped in the finish. My thought on reveal -- a success for the vintage. My #7, Group #7.

Chicago Wine Flock...Burgundy Double Blind from JW (Chicagoland IL): Tasting double blind in Jadot Bonnes Mares flight. Mostly red cherry, some black cherry hints with brighter freshness than I'd ever expect from a 2004. Still showing good balance, particularly to start, but this drops off quickly.

What an amazing, brilliant dark ruby Bonnes Mares color! And what a disappointing wine. the overripe bunches have yielded a persistent rotten fruit nose and fruit-driven but slightly rotten palate. Nice breeding, plenty of underlying fruit, but just not good at all. The dark plum, dark cherry, and woody notes just cannot overcome this supposed grand cru.

(Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares) Medium dark ruby color; rich cherry, black cherry, black raspberry nose; tasty, tight, tart black cherry, baking spice palate; medium-plus finish

Overall very ripe plum/prune compote, veering into stewed. Definitely in the drinking window.
