Entry-level Cali chard that performs reasonably well as a recognizably-Cali-Chard cheap quaffer. Lacks sufficient acid to hold it together and is excessively buttery and smooth without the quality of fruit to bolster it, but if you like oaky wines and you want a cheap one and don't mind it being structureless and a little thin, this is fine. 13.5%. $12.

Normally the Cupcakers over deliver for the price, but sadly, this is not one of those instances. This is thin and watered down. It is recognizable as Chardonnay, which gives it a couple of redeeming quality points. The color and the nose are classic California Chardonnay. Once it hits the palate, the red flag goes up with "where's the flavor?" Completely lacks the familiar Chardonnay enhanced viscosity. Has a touch of ginger spiciness. No mid palate. Weak acid. Let's just end this here.

The usually 'just as expected' aspect of this wine simply didn't meet even that expectation this time...
