Pop n pour, then drank over the course of dinner and finished after walking the dog. Better than the first bottle--almost two years more age and this is classic BdM. Really lovely dusty tobacco and leather aromas, muted dried sour cherries, maybe a little stem and leaf aromas. All that on the palate, with clean acidity. This could be very versatile, could consume with a steak cooked rare or, as we did, with chicken with spinach, tomato sauce, and a little parm on top. Wish I had bought more. I'll check for this in other vintages.

Decanted for 3-4 hours. Clean with a tinge of browning on the edges. Earthy with leather and cherry on the nose. Tannins are still prevalent but not over bearing. Cherry - Spice and Leather with a hint of vanilla. Has held up well and still retained a fair amount of vibrant fruit. Medium finish - overall a very good wine.

I don't see this as a profound ager, but there's nothing wrong with a wine that is this good this early. Already showing signs of bricking on the rim, and it's getting dusty, leathery, a little tobacco. I don't think those will get more obtrusive or improve, but they add a bit of complexity right now. The nose is bright and clean, with cherries, some spice tones. Finish is medium, with lingering acidity, while the tannin is more upfront, so you want to keep sipping. Really hard to put down, a good value, and a wine to enjoy without prolonged storage that still gives much of the advantage of maturity. Not palate-tiring, either.
