  • Deep cherry with garnet hues. Stewed fruit with fine wood and underlying spice on the nose. Elegant harmony of fruit, tannin and acidity with balsamic base with a long finish. Really great value out of Rioja.

  • I'm not convinced. This is a 2010 Rioja that I would expect to deliver a bright, exuberant, fruit profile, but doesn't. It acts like a dusty, old fashioned, Old World, large cask aged wine. The color is purple. The nose has buttered black cherry, and a touch of earth. The palate has black cherry, and blueberry, with all kinds of confusing, non fruit, sappy, almost industrial, secondary flavors. Just past medium bodied. Only 12.5% alcohol. Noticeable, controlled oak. The finish has some vanilla, brown spice, light black cherry, tobacco and earth. Expected better.
