Tasted at Core as part of their 2002-2006 vertical. Tasted out of magnum. 2003 marks a change in style, with a higher percentage of Mourvedre in the blend. Tastes much more age worthy than the previous year. Serious wine that could use some time. Magnum: 2012-2017.

I preface this by saying I really ejoyed the last bottle about 1 year ago, and gave it 91. Nose of blackberry, cherry, and barnyard (which I enjoyed), and reminded me of Bandol. The flavor though was now muted fruit with the wine not holding through the mid-palate. I think this wine is passing its peak, and would drink up. 50+4+13+17+5

(from 375ml) - This bottle is in a perfect place right now. Floral, raspberry and baking spice aromas..gotta be the Grenache (30%). The fruit is broad and expansive on the palate with darker fruits, mocha and leather. From the get go the tannin and acid are finely balanced and supportive. Within 20 minutes, this has gained depth and longitude. With food this wine would be all the better. Just begging for a grilled flank or tri-tip. **Some unresolved drying tannins clamp down a bit after 3 hrs interfering with the finish somewhat. I'm thinking at least another year in bottle isn't such a bad idea...

Out of magnum. Purchased at the winery and stored at 55. Very nice drink and still in balance.

San Antonio Wine Geeks - The Gathering without Steves (or how we found Lafite) (The Monterey): An odd wine. Nose with a green herbal note and a little plum. Palate is ripe, but delicate, with high toned currants and hint of spice that come through on a medium finish. Mid palate seemed a little thin. Maybe this has seen its best days? An interesting experimental blend.
