  • Wow! Very nice Pinot Noir...Gainey's reputation has been deflating lately but this is a very well-made interpretation of Santa Rita Hills-back from when they were more quality-focused. I suspect this is from the Gaia/Ashley's/Courtney's/Whatever you call it these days vineyard just south of HWY 246. A little on the heavy/extracted side but I enjoy the fully-ripe style as well. Full bodied and lush with classic strawberry notes. Also includes darker fruit than most for the area and the pallette is full and rich. Probably peaking at this point, I say drink em' if you got em'. Hether and I both enjoyed...No decanting. Opened up after an initial funk then detiorated a bit with too much time in the glass-turned slightly to tomatoes at the end...Nice drinkin'!

  • This Gainey was a real surprise and treat. Great complexity and dark fruit with lucious mouthfeel and a long, lingering finish. Soft tannins but nice structure and balance. Immediately looked for some more on K&L- surprise, surprise...sold out. I want to keep an eye out for this Pinot. Excellent!!
