  • Bottle 1/288; full bodied, super dry and dusty, dried strawberries, dried cherries, smoky, pepper, and slight notes of grilled meat. Besides all the dry and dusty notes, the finish has the most creamy Greek yogurt of the three.

  • Napa & Sonoma Trip (Dunn, O'Shaughnessy, Conn Valley, Seavey, TOR, Jemrose, Hansel); 7/23/2012-7/26/2012: By coincidence, I drank a 94 Dow's vintage port the previous evening at Bottega, and when I put this wine to my nose, it immediately registered a remarkable similarity to that port. Not suprisingly, it was extremely rich and ripe on the palate, but there was not enough tannin and acidity to keep it in balance to my palate. Those who like rich Amarones will like this wine more than I, but I found it a bit over the top. The Apparation which I also tasted was greatly preferred and I rated a classic wine.

  • Unbelievable wine in an unbelievable experience. My wife and I had an appointment to visit and taste at Anderson's Conn Valley late in the afternoon. We were joined after 20 minutes by the owner Todd Anderson. Without going into detail, he offered a taste of the 2008 Fantome, one of his wines from his Ghost Horse label, which had not been final bottled in its' etched glass, but was poured from a standard bottle that had been hand written in gold ink. Without a doubt the most amazing wine I have ever tried. Big, rich, opulent, without being over the top. Looking at every part, the fruit was concentrated but not heavy. The acid was absolutely enough to carry the big fruit. The tannins gave the entire wine the right structure it needed. Aroma is intoxicating without overwhelming your senses. Jumps into your mouth and continues to get better as you savor it. Finishes long and deep like the feel of a baseball hitting the bat in the sweet spot. And all you can do is stand there and admire it as it disappears over the fence. You finally come to your senses and realize I have another 1 or 2 at bats before the game is over and the glass is empty. But it will be an experience I will always be able to relive.
