  • 2014 Harvest, disgorged May 2018. 2994 bottles produced. 100% Pinot Blanc from 100+yr old vines
Right in between pale and medium lemon....definetly a touch more colour here.
Fresh green apple, chaulk, minerals, candied white flowers, faint tropical pinapple and guava.
On the palate, this is rich without being heavy....it walks that line really well. The fruit leans again to crisp green apple, white flowers and candied lemon with a faint autolytic note that sits in the background as well.
Finish is long, precise and expansive. Fantastic.

  • I suppose I'll continue to be in somewhat of the minority here in my appreciation for this wine. A giving and texturally beautiful core of yellow citrus and subtle tropical fruit is surrounded by yellow apple, white stone fruit, honeyed ginger, and travertine notes. Much less pithy and tight than when I had it back in November.

Now, when I typically use descriptors like "honey" and "tropical," they are often associated with some sucrosity or sweet elements. Thankfully that's not the case here, as this wine is able to carry those flavors without the cloying sweetness that can come from such a profile. Being an extra brut type of animal seemingly helps accomplish this here.

Paired great with an Asian scramble/fried rice dish.

I'm a fan. Not because it's more unique being 100% old vine Pinot Blanc, but mainly because it tastes friggin good (to me at least). I'm not asking it to take a differential calculus final exam for me, nor am I asking it to cure cancer (or COVID for that matter), but in those potential gaps where it may lack slightly in academics (though I think it has solid complexity and layered flavoring), it makes up for in good 'ol fashion enjoyment. And for me, this doesn't have a case of the simples. It straddles a nice line between flavor and focus, offering both subtle succulence and enticing verve. It won't last 40 years, but at this rate I'm not so sure I will either.

93-95 points. Drink now and over the next 5+ years. 100% Pinot Blanc. 2014 vintage. Disgorged 2018.

  • No disgorgement or base indication.
Dragon fruit, pineapple, coconut, mango, guava, lemon, tangerine, maple syrup, brown sugar, some herbs such as dill and parsley, a natural medicine-like touch.
Light and soft texture, very lively acidity. Interesting but not really fascinating.

  • At Bistro Paul Bert: bracing, fresh, mineral 100% pinot blanc. Really interesting.

  • All Pinot Blanc apparently. Apple fruit. Slightly broader feel than the Osmose but still dry and impressively mineral finish. Interesting stuff.
