Wine Cellar Spain (Wine Cellar): Medium yellow; the nose is intense with lemon, hay, warm spices and a pronounced presence of aniseed and liquorice. A wood resin/quinine element particular to White Rioja is also present. The palate reflects the nose with a crisp, clean entry. It offers an apple skin and sultana texture, some bitter almond and lime and that barrel-fermented character of smoky, lees and Madagascan vanilla pod. There are similarities to Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo, more than, say, Chardonnay, as overall, the wine is relatively simple, particularly on the back palate. It also lacks a bit of depth and complexity. 54 Viura; 27 Malvasia; 19 Garnacha blanca. Fermented in new oak and aged six months in oak.
