The nose shows black cherries, orange zest and Asian clove spices. The palate is bold with notes of currants, coffee bean and clove spices. The finish has some nice tart tannin spices with some slight sweet cherry.
I don't get the green herbal characteristics indicated in the other tasting notes.

Really not very good. Not bad, but this is the last of four bottles, all of which have been totally unimpressive. Fruit seems green, with a metallic like undertone. The 2007 is not any better. Not a label that I would purchase again.

Just an inexpensive quaffer. Very green, and herbaceous, with flavors of mint and spice. Really not much to it as much I want to like it...really disappointing for a WA red.

Slightly better than the 2007 but there is definitely a "house style" that is quite evident. All Bordeaux grape composition with small amounts of Malbec and Petit Verdot used in this blend versus the Petit Sirah used in the 2007 blend. The house style is a medium bodied wine, displaying a fruit forward core of very spicy, jammy, and toasty, black fruit with a slightly green, earthy tinge. Good finish. Seems a bit hollow at mid-palate and lacks the bold, rich character that great Meritages possess. Food will enhance this wine. A good everyday drinker @ $18 on WineWoot.
