Just poped and pour. Nose: waxy, honey, petrol, mineral , a bit dull palate: quite full and waxy, apricot, but low acidity and bitterness finished. not impressive

Dinner at 28-50 (28-50): Deep golden color. Very nice nose of ripe apricots, peaches, mango, with interesting rainwater and rocky notes. Off-dry, full bodied, less austere with a bit of air, well-balanced. Quite liked this. My first Z-H; for some reason I thought it would be huge and over-the-top, but it wasn't.

Opened three of these with Christmas dinner which consisted of ham, cornbread stuffing, celery root puree, and sauteed green beans. Magnificent deep golden color with noticeable variation between bottles though they were purchased and stored together for many years. Just traces of sweetness left but still an outstanding wine with mineral tastes dominating. The table felt it would not likely benefit form more aging though none of us are Rielsing experts.

A rich gold colour was the first surprise, much darker than I would have anticipated from this wine. Glorious nose of ripe stone fruits, mainly apricots with maybe a touch of elderflower. Palate was similar - and it struck an intriguing balance between rich, dry, sweet and astringent. Somehow it made it through to be gloriously refreshing and definitely moreish....

NSMFOW June '09--Thirtheeth Anniversary Dinner (The Grapevine, Salem, MA): Deep golden color. Rich nose of apricots, pear, and minerals. Slight spritz on the tongue. Similar on the palate with a floral character as well and a hint of lychee. Dense flavors with nice flintiness and acidity. Great wine with a nice future. Brought by Louis & Debbie.
