opened and breathed in bottle for a while. dark red with garnet hue. dark fruits, cedar and some tertiary notes in a clean bouquet: leather, cigar box, pine nuts and subtle caramel. m+ body, supple but still a little grippy tannins, with well mellowed texture, medium length finish. it's at or just over its peak time. really enjoy this bottle, it's a classic Hawkes Bay blend, and a big reward of the patience.
Ap 5/5, Ar 13/15, Palate 18/20, Overall 4+5/10 Total 95/100

At Villa Maria tasting room Auckland. Deep and dark, rich nose of overripe black plum, earth, coffee bean, compost, aniseed. Palate very similar with present, grippy tannins, still acidity in fruit. A bit overpowering and not fully integrated. Would be interested to see with another 5 years on it to see if it softens.

Dark, deep purple. Gorgeous St. Julienne nose of sweet violets with a bit of mulberry - I could smell this forever. Solid tannins and a lot of cedar with blackberries as the dominant notes.

Delicious wine with cherry and plum flavors with a smattering of herbs. The finish hangs on and on.
