  • I’d held high hopes for the age-ability of this wine. I was wrong. After searching for a wine to accompany a cheese plate, I reluctantly pulled this thinking it was too young, but hey, it would best accompany the cheeses. I was wrong that it was too young, but correct that it best accompanied the cheeses. The color of the wine is an intriguing amber. Cloudy, but not dull, the amber is beguiling, but not beckoning. The nose is agolden delicious apple, and eventually, tangerine and orange blossom. It takes a long while for the orange blossom to appear. Faint, indistinct apple leads the attack at first but tangerine comes on in a big way as the wine opens. “Big” as in the sense that the tangerine note takes over, but not big as in fleshy or juicy. The finish is indistinct and seems to just fade from little to nothing. Without any depth, the wine makes a linear track. This wine is unfiltered and appears rather cloudy. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but if you’re looking for a wine to captivate the eye, this probably isn’t it. 13.5% alc. With two triple cream cow cheeses, including St. Andre and a manchego, crisped pancetta and crusty bread. Recommended with Reservations due to age.

  • In a great place right now.. but I think it will even get better in an couple of years. So full of flavor, but the tannin and minerality are adding such an amazing balance.. great.. With Thai Food

This is the same tasting note as a year ago.. the wine has gotten even more tied together.. The acidity is lowish here and now the apricot has come out.. I love their "serious" whites when they are 4-8 years old

  • Hell yes, more please. I think my favorite vintage of this wine to date. Best at cellar temperature with a decant. As a fan of skin-contact whites, this is one of the few where I feel I can still get the Roussanne along with all the skin phenolics. In addition to all the hebal, tannic, citrus zest from the skins, there's a real honeyed, sappy quality as well. Super floral, grippy and more-ish. Unfiltered and shows it, with both some general haziness and tartrate crystals. Great as a cocktail wine, amazing with food - tonight with seared ahi over noodles and a simple salad.

  • Nerdy California Wines (Domaine - Washington, DC): An orange-lemon color. Smells like orange peel, flowers, a hint of iodine. Rich and oily on the palate, but the acidic concentration is awesome. Flavors of green apple, orange marmalade, mixed nuts, baking spices. Lots of complexity here. Unlike many Cali Roussannes, this wine restrains itself, and offers some intrigue. Delicious.
