Nose is concentrated but fairly closed, with notes of raspberry, black olive, and vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, with intense acid and tannin and a touch of glycerin. Palate shows a strong vanilla note above powerful flavours of blackberry, raspberry, black pepper, star anise, and black tea. Nice, but won't reach its peak for a while.

Dark ruby with glossy crimson rims, vivid but less intense. Blackberries, dark cherries, violet and hints of spice and oak. Medium bodied with soft and smooth mouth-feel, showing blackberries, violets and visible but integrated oak. Sweet fruited mid-palate and lively acidity lend a fresh medium finish, fine velvety tannins. Compared to the Shiraz tasted yesterday, this is lighter, more black-fruited, simpler and fresher. Of course the alcohol is lower at 13.5% too. Good on its own to enjoy slowly but lack of power, intensity and complexity when compared to other good Aussie Shiraz.

Aroma of dark plum and spices. Medium weight on the palate with fresh acidity and medium finish; 13.5 % alcohol is refreshing for an Aussie shiraz.
