Consistent with my note a couple of years ago. Screw capped. This is drinking, not like on release, but still youthfully. It is dry. The nose has nice minerality, not a lot of fruit but deep and complex. There is a great oily texture. On the palate, again dry and mineral driven. Deep and complex. Good finish. No hurry on these. Glad to have one more.

Some value wines from Austria; 8/9/2014-8/10/2014 (WRW): I revisited this wine today. I had it a few months ago and for whatever reason, it did not show as well. I scored it 87 and now 91. My tasting note is pretty consistent, but my scoring is now way up. The oily texture is still the highlight of the wine. There is a complex minerality that I did not get the last time. Both times it was in a tasting of many wines, so perhaps it is the circumstances. This is screw capped so I would no expect much bottle variations. There is not a lot of fruit here, but really nice mineral and stones. seems like it has the stuffing to go 20 years. Who know the difference, but for $24, I decided to buy a couple of bottles and see which way I will go with this.

Seemingly very dry and somewhat acidic. Real front forward notes of lemon and lime, with not much plush fruitiness to be found. There is a bitter component here which detracts some, but I quite liked this wine overall, but it falls into my white wine wheelhouse style.

Had it with smoked salmon. A nice Riesling with flowers and honey on the nose and on the palate a bit sweetness and moderate acid. At the finish a hint of grapefruit zest.

(Weingut Hirsch Riesling Zöbing) Light yellow color; celery seed, tart citrus nose; celery seed, tart citrus, mineral palate with medium acidity; medium-plus finish 91+ points
(Hirsch Riesling Zöbing) ($26.00) CORE-LIST WINE. The ‘11 has moony delicate Gaisberg aromas, like blueberries that ripened under moonlight; the palate is fervidly spicy, markedly long, full of character and a powdery minerality.

Helping a friend with a north-east Italian Wine List; 4/3/2014-4/10/2014 (TBD): Interesting wine. Not much fruit, this is all about minerality. Oily texture. Some limes on the palate, but more minerals. Slightly bitter on the finish. Some heat. I expected more here. Screw capped.
