  • Dark cherry, floral (violets), great finish.

  • Overall I am a fan of the 2009 vintage; the wines seem ripe and accessible but not overly so, good for drinking now but with some aging potential. This Durant, medium cherry red, characteristic WR voluptuousness on the nose, some fragrant floral scents and that slight funkiness, accessible candied fruit character, not overly complicated or lengthy. Around its best at present.

  • Agree with previous note. The nose is reticent and changes with agitation. I would suggest that the palate shows a light pleasant candied character to it that has a bit of viscosity. Nice finish with fine tannins. Should improve with short term aging, but is very good now.

  • Notes after 4 hours, no decant. Alluring on the nose, but I'm finding this difficult to describe. If I leave this wine alone, what shows on the nose is delicacy, a touch floral, some nice spices and a hint of resin. But when I swirl this hard, I start to get an addition of leather - baseball glove leather. Then...that leather blows off for the most part, and we're back to floral, spice, resin. Quite a morph over a very short period of time. Overall I like the impression, but don't recall having seen a "swirled" vs "not swirled" distinction that struck me in the same way. Those notes all carry to a medium-bodied palate, relatively delicate and a nice interplay between sweet and sour. A balanced wine, if not quite "razor sharp". A very slight whiff of Oregon funk, but it's way in the background and doesn't distract from the fact that this is a "pretty" wine. Fine tannins are present but don't interfere with current enjoyment. Overall a very nice wine that will probably be more polished and complete in a couple of years. 90+ points for current consumption, but I think this will be a few points better with some bottle age. Splitting the difference, 91 points.
