Color, deep dark red; 1st nose, red fruits, roasted oak; 2nd nose, liquor, leather and spices. On the palate, complex with layers of fruits and oak. Complimented meat paella.

Medium nose shows sour cherry, cedar, dried plums, black spice, fresh earth or herbal notes. Palate is lighter than expected, nice dried fruit layers, fresh acidity, red fruit driven, light spice. Finish shows hidden alcohol and medium complexity. Good value.

33/33/33 Alicante/Cabernet/Merlot. Nose shows sharp sweet/sour notes. Palate gives dark cranberry, cassis, currant, black plum, no obvious oak, they use 50/50 tanks and used oak for aging. Interesting bottle, a little different, not obviously Italian.

We had been drinking Purple Teeth Syrah before which is a bright and fruit filled delight. This is darker with more licorice on the nose and a deep dark fruit licorice taste. It is lovely, just not a big fruit bomb, very smooth and actually a bit light. A tad bit acidic for my husband even after being open for an hour. We had both wines with grilled steak and sauteed veggies. This is VERY licorice, medium finish not a whole huge amount of fruit. Since I don't KNOW how its supposed to taste I'm probably making a mess of this, but there's my note.

Fruity wine, low tannic, Lack a little bit of complexity. Should be a strong wine in 3 to 4 years, absolutely do not drink it today(2013)
