(magnum) PnP, served non-blind. One of the more complete MS wines I've had, though really that's not saying much. Too many times I find a juicy-delicious factor, but not much underneath. Tonight's PnP was fresh, fully open for business and managed an approachable, yet mildly structured attack and a layered finish; still, it's too ripe and candied for my taste. This was served on the cool side, having been pulled from the 55F cellar just 15 minutes before we pulled the cork, perhaps that was the critical factor (i.e. past experiences have usually been at room temp, wherein I find the wines to have a creamy/smooth factor that doesn't interest me at all, and some unwanted flab, too). This was spicy and filled out the mid-palate pretty well. Still, I think this is more for the (pricier) cocktail wine crowd, and thus it's nothing I'd look to purchase.

drank very impressively with a wide variety of small plates (although those with beef were pretty spectacular). Started well, but opened over time so well that the 2 non-cab drinkers of the 4 who tasted were asking for more in a tone that could not safely be refused. A very fine maker--but more importantly a wine that has developed very impressively. A bit of sweetness, some tannins, and a ways still to go if I am guess correctly.

Lush ripe red fruit. A bit of spice on the nose and the mid palate. Nice long finish...Still more fun with this wine
