Goodness! Just excellent! Blind I would have guessed St. Joseph. It's dry, with loads of earth and that funk of a real syrah. It's classic Northern Rhone. Just a joy to drink. Straight from the bottle it was open and really didn't evolve much in the 2 hours I consumed half the bottle.
You know, these reviews seriously guide my purchase of wines at auction so, if I want to get more of this at a good price, why the ***** would I give a good review? My bad!
Ahem, excuse me, don't buy this wine, cuz it sucks!
Happy new year!
1 week later, from open bottle left on my table while I was on vacation. Oh, delish yummy! It was still really good even after 9 days left open but undecanted from last glass in bottle.

Angelica Wine Club - New Zealand (Sawa Restaurant, Stanley Street): "White and black peppercorn, wild ferment, quite funky with chacuterie and blackberry. Juicy in the mouth with black pepper, fresh blue and black berry, silky tannins, persistent, long. Balanced, very nice. I recognised this as my other contribution to the night."

Negociants Australia Portfolio Tasting: Truffle, violet, raspberry and undergrowth. Palate shows a pleasing mix of savory and sweet fruit - there is a vibrancy to it, but it does have depth as well. Good carry and has the structure to age over 5-10 years.

Funk, blackberry, deli meats, damp earth. Ample length. Superb. On the occasion of Mum’s 80th in honour of her 2010 vintage Kiwi granddaughter.
