24-Hour Tampa Blitzkrieg; 2/27/2016-2/28/2016: Not a perfect bottle and pretty sparse notes: Alive but not breathtaking. Soft red cherries. not overly expressive, alive and enjoyable, not flawed, not gone, but not glowing.

Two Great Old Burgundy Dinners with Dear Friends; 12/4/2015-12/5/2015: Aha, finally a wine that looks fully mature-pale, not completely clear, watery rim. And finally aromatics of a truly old wine (much more so than the '55 Musigny)-truly gorgeous gentle perfume and most amazingly, still scents of ethereally light strawberries. Completely weightless and elegant. Although the flavors are slightly behind the aromas, the acidity has perfectly folded in and the tannins have dissolved, leaving behind underbrush and a lovely, gentle sense of lingering fruit. There is none of the young Pommard roughness or raspiness. This is probably my least favorite commune in the Côte d'Or, but I've never drunk a better Pommard. Maybe I've just had them 40 years too young. Bravo, Pierre Ponnelle, for providing a memorable finish to a weekend of extraordinary red wines.

Enjoyed at Bern's on the recommendation from Brad Dixon (sommelier). The color was outstanding with a dark hue and no sign of browning. Deep flavor was a mix of red fruit and earth. Again nice long finish that was not necessarily power but resonated beautifully. Wonderful wine and what burgundy is all about.
