Rather modern and California like in character with its ripe fruit and overt oak. Drinkable but not interesting. A bad recommendation from Chambers in NYC.

Enjoyed over dinner at La Ciboulette in Beaune. Already perfectly approachable, quite plump soft fruit with ripe acidity. Lovely glass of wine for current drinking.

Burgundy 2012 Day 2: Visit to Domaine Rapet Pere & Fils (Pernand-Vergelesses): Very decent. This started out with a pleasant nose of ripe lemons and apples with a touch of smoky minerality, some flowery scents and a bit of sweet vanilla that spoke to the 20 percent or so of new oak that the wine went into. The palate too had some buttery tones, like light cream, layered over flavours of lemon curd and apple with more pretty floral tones in the background. Lovely balance throughout, and it finished with a nice lick of minerality and a touch of toasted popcorn seeds again hinting at the oak. Very young of course, but this a simple, pleasant, early-drinking type of wine. Not bad at all.
