Community Tasting Notes (3) Median Score: 80 points

  • Bottle with perfect level and cork. Brown in colour. On the nose there is the scent of an old wooden pew (kerkbank). Green vegetable tones. On the palate it starts slightly sweet, then bitter. All the fruit is gone. This is not unpleasant but definitely not very good. But for a 1976 a good effort, still alive.

  • 1976 Château Kirwan (Frankrijk, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux) Kleur: Oranjebruin Aroma / bouquet: Heel tertiair: maggi, oude kaas. Algemeen / potentieel: 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 8 + Smaak / Afdronk: 12 + Algemeen / potentieel: 5 = 80/100

  • Very mature appearance; initial bad odour disappears after decanting, but a certain volatility remains; vinous, hints of wood and herbs, vestiges of fruit, nice depth and a certain harmony, floral and perfumed; elegant and smooth but rather light, dry but supple, little tannin left, juicy and lively, rather thin acidity; tails off a bit on the finish, note of liquorice. More than fully mature.
