The last bottle of this was just shy of amazing--great fruit, balance, deep flavors. This bottle, however, was more pedestrian with stewed blackberry, black licorice, and a bit of forest floor on the nose The palate was not inspiring, but solid. Good acidity, a shot of fruit and some dirt. The palate reinforces this concept, with slightly stewed fruit and a dose of. Solid but short of delectable. thedrunkencyclist.com

I bought a couple of bottles of this wine on a trip to Napa Valley several years ago. I had just come off the Wine Bloggers Conference, where I met Craig Camp who was the GM at Cornerstone at the time. Impressed by the wines that Craig showed at the conference, I decided to visit the winery in Yountville. I was so impressed by this Willamette Valley Pinot that I bought a couple. Today? Delicious. Black cherry, pepper, and some clove lead to a delightfully tart wine, with good to great fruit, plenty of depth, earth, spice. Yum. thedrunkencyclist.com

Upon initial cork pop and pour, this one didn't go with olive tapenade, didn't go with pork, didn't go with herbed veggies. Had a very medicinal character to it at first. Came back about 90 minutes later to a wine that had developed a cigarette ash quality. No bueno. I think this one is corked, or done. Not sure which one, but it was NOT welcome tonight!! I still hesitate to call this one "done" but this bottle was certainly so tonight.

I was a little disappointed back over a year ago, and decided to give this one another whirl. This one has certainly improved, but is still struggling to get above 90. The wine was less acidic up front than I remember last, and had more red fruit up front, allowing more of a bouquet and complexity to shine through. Poured a dusky crimson into the glass. The nose was all raspberry and some bramble. The entry was more alcoholic cherry, raspberry....very red. At first it seemed like it was the darker side of Pinot, but as the wine opened and was consumed over the night, it still maintained a rather youthful personality. The mid-palate was a little dirty but was gritty, brambly, went with chicken fajitas and all the accoutrement very well. But, the thing that prevents this wine from really shining is that there weren't many secondary characters, and once the wine went down, it was done. I still think that this one will hold another 5-7 years with proper cellaring, but I don't expect it to improve in the bottle any more.

Retail $50. Great aromatics, but a bit thin, the flavors are all there, maybe it just needs a little time in the bottle to come together. We popped this right across the street from Cornerstone at Bistro Jeanty. Very Good. 87-89 Points.
