  • A small impromptu dinner - 09 Rayas (The Henri, Washington D.C.): Bright, light golden color. Medium expressive nose displaying generous yellow fruit, lemon curd, apricot, baked apple, white flowers, honey, sweet and spicy spices, and limestone. Excellent concentration, nicely layered with concentrated but slightly coiled yellow fruit, rich and oily yet also showing a good balance with medium acidity and mineral, and a long, concentrated, yellow fruit-driven finish. This definitely has the richness, concentration, and balance characteristic of a Grand Cru Montrachet.

  • Late note from Journal
Tight, steely and way too young. Not offering much on the nose at this point. Crisp and taut.

  • Good bright yellow color, on the nose mineral and citrus notes with earthy tones, on the palate a somewhat muscular wine from a vineyard typically noted for its lacey delicacy- but there is good balance here, with time a very nice persistence of steel notes evolves on the midpalate and finish with a nice core of ripe fruit appearing just before the tail end. This will age nicely for a good long time, but is well and truly showing quite a lot of all it has to offer now. ***+, perhaps ***(*) if it demonstrates additional complexity in time. Now to 2025+

  • Gold yellow. Perfume, stone and cooking spice bouquet with a tad of sulfur. Round mouthfeel and alluring acidity make you want more. Notes of Asian spice, crumb cake, minerals and lychee nuts. Delightful. Complex. Long finish.

  • Bright, tart, floral and expressive bouquet highlighted by mineral expressions. Explosive flavor notes include lemon Crème pie and hazelnut. Finish slightly out of balance with dominant acidity profile.
