  • I was worried about this bottle holding up, but it paired nicely today with grilled sausages and burgers.
Dark, brash and bold black and blue fruits, with smoke and black pepper, and fading tannins.
Lovely wine, if you like the big boys. Drink now.

  • Decanted and showing moderate+ sediment.
Above moderate aromas of dehydrated blueberries, deep plum, blackberry compote and fig preserves with dried violets, pipe smoke, campfire coals, rendered bacon fat, cocoa, chocolate mint, black pepper, dry aged meats, sous bois and earth.
The palate is dark and brooding showing maturity but retaining its acidity. Tannins have settled a bit but are still gripping. Flavors of black pepper laced meats, rendered bacon, fig paste, dried blueberries, black forest cake, pipe smoke and hints of herbs, mint, bramble and earth. The finish lingers with notes of dried violets.

  • This wine has lost all its heat and is left with well structured bright fruit. It is absolutely amazing right now.

  • Decanted and showing moderate sediment.
Scents are moderate in intensity revealing notes of spent campfire, brambly blackberry, mulberry and over-ripe blueberry with aromas of candied anise, pepper, graham and forest with hints of rubbed chocolate mint, menthol and mincemeat pie.
Still showing nice freshness on the palate with bright berry acidity and flavors of fresh picked blackberry, blueberry and touches of plum and fig paste that bring notes of chocolate mint, smoke, peppered salami, bramble, earth and baking spice. The finish lingers easily.

  • One-hour decant. Recommend using a screen because there's lots of sediment. Full of blue and black fruit. Drinking well at this time. Drink or hold until 2021.
