Well kept bottle, high fill, crumbly cork, but no seepage. Slight amber, but mostly deep purple. More like a fine aged Cote Rotie, a little reduction but mostly a very smoky aroma, some Rhone scents, medium to light bodied and very fruity for its age, mostly black cherry-berry, somewhat short finish tho but very good with lamb chops, even better with Italian sweet sausage ravioli with a roasted garlic red sauce. Probably won't get much better, tannins are almost completely resolved. Very nice.

Very enjoyable mature shiraz with a very old world style. Slight bricking but nothing funky or musty on the nose. Lively acidity and suble red fruit remineded me of an older northern rhone. No menthol/eucalyptus notes which was a little surprising.

(CLARENDON HILLS SYRAH) #1; COLOR-dark; a little cloudy; NOSE-it smells like an ashtray or a Smokers' car; wild Tea component; TASTE-I like this wine; very good; this is classic, has some Rhone Cote Rotie elements going on; still has a nice exotic fruit aspect, but has calmed down dramatically; very polished; a beautiful integration of black pepper; bell pepper & raspberry tart aspect; a beautiful leachy fruit aspect; this wine ROCKS!!!; great balance; RP-92; GV-94+

From what I thought would be dead, to a very aged Syrah. Likely, my low expectations were unwarranted.
